Turtle Patrol Information Session
MAR 8 2026
06:00 AM - 07:00 AM
Abu Dhabi
As we prepare to welcome the 2026 turtle nesting season, we invite you to join our Online Turtle Awareness and Information Session. In light of the current circumstances, this session will provide guidance for anyone who may already have access to beaches and wishes to better understand how to responsibly observe and report signs of turtle nesting. Our goal is to ensure that people who are visiting beaches are aware, informed, and prepared to respond appropriately if they encounter turtle tracks or nesting activity. During the session, we will introduce the basics of turtle nesting in the UAE and explain how to identify turtle tracks, recognize potential nest sites, and follow the correct protocols for reporting observations. We will also cover important guidelines for minimizing disturbance, safety considerations, and the valuable role that citizen observations can play in supporting marine conservation efforts. Turtle tracks are often easiest to identify in the early morning before they are disturbed. However, it is important to manage expectations. While encounters can be exciting, most nesting occurs overnight and it is unlikely that you will see a turtle nesting. Our focus is on raising awareness and helping people recognize and report signs of nesting activity responsibly. Whether you are learning about turtle nesting for the first time or have supported turtle patrols in previous seasons, this session will help build awareness and ensure that anyone visiting beaches is equipped with the knowledge to help protect nesting turtles. Together, we can help safeguard our nesting beaches and support marine life for generations to come. 🐢 Link to register on zoom: https://wwf.zoom.us/meeting/register/Tz9QzKkxS9yO4x_CC8tGTQ After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting :)
